Schwab adds an AI narrator to your portfolio: daily summaries, no agent trading involved

Back in January we covered TradeStation gating AI-agent trading access behind a $10,000 minimum and a Claude Pro subscription. Schwab's AI move, announced May 5, is a different animal entirely: no agent, no trading authority, just a daily narrative layer on top of the portfolio you already have.
What it does
AI Portfolio Insights writes a plain-language summary of what changed in your portfolio each day: which holdings moved it, relevant news on the stocks driving that move, and commentary snippets pulled from the Schwab Center for Financial Research. It's live on Schwab.com and the mobile app, and it's built for retail clients directly, not routed through an advisor the way most of Schwab's earlier AI work has been.
The bigger pattern
Schwab is also rolling out an AI chat and voice assistant for account service and support, expected sometime this summer. Together, the two moves read as Schwab building an AI layer across the entire client relationship, not just trading.
Why this matters if you use Cresori
This is the read-only, narrative side of the AI wave we've been tracking, not the trading-access side. It also sits close to territory Cresori already covers with performance attribution and dividend and tax reporting, just at a lighter, "why did my portfolio move today" level rather than full attribution. Worth watching as incumbent brokers build simpler versions of what dedicated tools already do in more depth, the two aren't really competing for the same user, but the gap is narrowing.
