tastytrade acquires the Wagl team, its first real move into building AI itself

tastytrade has had a busy summer, an $850,000 FINRA fine, CFTC-regulated prediction markets, near-24/5 overnight index options. This latest move is different in kind: an acquisition aimed at AI.
What happened
tastytrade acquired the team behind Wagl, its first concrete step toward building AI capability internally. Until now, the only AI-agent connectivity tied to tastytrade was an unofficial MCP server built by an independent developer, not an official tastytrade product. This changes that.
Why it's worth watching
Every broker we've covered building an AI connector so far did it as a bolt-on, MCP servers, third-party integrations, existing infrastructure repurposed. An acquisition aimed specifically at AI talent suggests tastytrade wants to build something of its own rather than just wiring up a connector, though what that actually ships as remains to be seen.
Why this matters if you use Cresori
tastytrade is one of the brokers Cresori connects to directly. Nothing changes for your account today, but if tastytrade ships an official AI-agent integration off the back of this, it'll be worth the same scrutiny we've applied to every other broker's version: what access it grants, and whether it's opt-in.
